A MIDSUMMER
NIGHTS DREAM
ACT 2, SCENE 1 BY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
DIRECTOR
For my directing class, our assignment was to cast and direct a scene from Shakespeare's, A Midsummer Night's Dream. I chose Act 2, Scene 1 in which the fairy king Oberon has met the fairy queen Titania and her fairy attendants by moonlight. Oberon wants to take the changeling boy from Titania to have a little henchman, but she will not budge.
CAST:
TITANIA: Hades Whalen
OBERON: Deangelo Powell
FAIRIES: Cody Combs, Emmarie Brewer, Marisa Carlson, Kristin Kaufman
In addition to directing the scene and coaching our actors, we created a Textural Analysis. While reading through the text we found words of imagery and searched for images to make collages. We created collages of PAINTINGS, ARCHITECTURE, PHOTOGRAPHY, AND SCULPTURE that corresponded with the words of the text and our interpretation of A Midsummer Night's Dream. I have showcased my collages below.
